Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster in Dubai ensures the safety of residents and visitors

UAE:  Dubai's Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management has announced the implementation of remote learning in private schools to ensure public safety during adverse weather conditions

The meeting, held on April 30, 2024, was chaired by His Highness Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management. Its purpose was to discuss emergency plans prepared by relevant entities to ensure the best response to potential disruptions.

Teams

During the meeting, the committee decided to implement remote learning in private schools in Dubai on Thursday and Friday, May 2 and 3, respectively. The committee also reviewed the preparedness of all relevant entities, including Dubai Police, RTA, Dubai Municipality, Dubai Airports, DEWA, Civil Defence, Dubai Health, Dubai Ambulance, and Dubai Land Department, along with other entities, in collaboration with the private sector and community management companies to mitigate any impact of inclement weather conditions.

The meeting also reviewed the Government of Dubai Media Office's crisis communications plan and the emergency plans of Dubai Police, RTA, Dubai Municipality, Dubai Health, Dubai Land Department, several community management firms, and other relevant entities to ensure public safety and swiftly address any disruptions.

 Response time

The committee also reviewed the efforts to address problems after recent extreme weather events. His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, Commissioner General for the Infrastructure, Urban Planning and Well-Being Pillar and the Director General, Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), highlighted the teams' efforts to handle the aftermath of the adverse weather events. 

HE Al Tayer stated that through an integrated plan, the committee successfully managed to swiftly and efficiently contain fallouts of the unstable weather situation in full coordination with strategic partners in the emirate. He added that these efforts had been undertaken in keeping with the highest standards of response speed and the best global practices in dealing with emergencies and crises.

The meeting reaffirmed Dubai's commitment to public safety and preparedness for adverse weather conditions. The committee will continue to monitor the situation and take necessary actions to ensure the safety of Dubai's residents and visitors.
