Dubai: Passengers travelling through Dubai Airports are expected to face delays due to bad weather and heavy rains forecast on May 2.
Emirates airline has also issued an advisory for passengers travelling to Dubai International due to inclement weather. The airline warned passengers of expected delays due to rain and heavy traffic. Travellers have been advised to start early so as to reach the airport in time.
Emirates spokesperson said in statement: “Heavy thunderstorms are forecast in Dubai on May 2. If you are travelling to Dubai International Airport, you may experience road delays. We recommend adding extra travel time to reach the airport and using Dubai Metro where possible.”
Meanwhile, Dubai Airports have also issued advisory for passengers travelling through the airport. Passengers are advised to check flight status before going to the airport and reach the airport early to avoid delays due to road traffic congestions during rain.
According to the National Center of Meteorology, UAE will get medium to heavy rains for two days, starting on Wednesday evening. Employers have been encouraged to ask employees to work from home while schools across the country have announced distance learning for students on May 2 and 3.
The disaster management authority has called on private and government sector employees to let their employees work from home as unstable weather conditions peak in the country.
Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has also announced to extend Dubai Metro operating hours to facilitate passengers reach the airport. Dubai Metro will operate addition hours from 12midnight to 5am on May 1 and May 2 .
Recent extreme rains in the UAE caused suspension of airport operations in Dubai while more than 2,000 flights were affected.
