Dubai Airports issue warnings to travellers as severe weather hits the UAE
Travellers are advised to check their flight status before leaving for the airport
Dubai: The Dubai International Airport (DXB) and Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC) have issued a warning to travellers advising them to check the status of their flights with their respective airlines, arrive early for security screening and boarding, plan their route using smartphone apps to receive real-time traffic updates and alternate routes and use Dubai Metro whenever possible.
The warning comes as heavy thunderstorms and rain showers hit the United Arab Emirates (UAE) this week, causing traffic disruptions and flight delays across the country. The National Center for Meteorology (NCM) has predicted that the weather event will continue to affect the UAE until early Friday morning, with hail possible in coastal and western regions.
Due to bad weather in Dubai on 2 May, customers arriving or departing from @DXB might experience delays as some flights are rescheduled.

Authorities have implemented continuity plans and actively monitored the situation to ensure public safety and minimise disruptions. The current weather event is expected to be less severe than the storms that hit the country in April. These storms caused the most rainfall ever recorded in over 75 years and brought the nation to a complete halt for several weeks.
Travelers are advised to stay updated on the latest weather and flight information and plan their trips accordingly to avoid potential disruptions.
