Qatar Airways has introduced an exciting new in-flight safety video featuring comedian, actor, and entrepreneur Kevin Hart, who takes centre stage as the airline’s newest Global Brand Ambassador.
The video, set to debut in December 2024, promises to offer passengers more than just essential safety information—it aims to entertain while ensuring that passengers are engaged with the necessary procedures for their safety.
In a bold move to capture the attention of today’s technology-savvy travellers, Qatar Airways has enlisted a star-studded ensemble cast to deliver its crucial safety instructions. Directed by Hollywood veteran Tim Story, the video is designed to be both informative and memorable, featuring Hart and several famous faces.
Supermodel Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, internet sensation Khaby Lame, social media influencer Anwar Jibawi, and comedian Adam Waheed all play supporting roles in the video, which is expected to redefine in-flight safety entertainment.
A star-studded safety message
Starting in December, the new safety video will begin appearing on select Qatar Airways flights, with a full rollout by January 2025. The video features Kevin Hart as the central figure, guiding passengers through standard safety procedures such as securing seatbelts and stowing luggage. Hart’s comedic timing and dynamic personality make for a humorous yet effective delivery of safety guidelines.
Rosie Huntington-Whiteley lends a hand in demonstrating how to use the overhead compartments, while Anwar and Amal Jibawi remind passengers to keep their seatbelts fastened throughout the flight.
Khaby Lame, known for his viral ‘life hack’ videos, brings his signature non-verbal humour to the video, adding a lighthearted twist to the safety message.
Meanwhile, Adam Waheed ensures the oxygen mask instructions are clear, reinforcing the seriousness of safety despite the playful approach.
Qatar Airways’ commitment to safety is clearly reflected in this creative collaboration, which blends fun with functionality. The airline's Group CEO, Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer, highlighted the importance of maintaining passengers’ attention. “Our main ambition for this project was to design an in-flight safety video that passengers will not want to miss,” he said.
A fresh approach to safety
As the aviation industry continues to adapt to new technologies, Qatar Airways has noticed a growing trend where passengers often ignore traditional safety videos, opting instead to focus on personal devices. To counter this shift, the airline decided that bringing popular celebrities and content creators on board would be the perfect solution to keep passengers’ attention. Kevin Hart, in particular, is an ideal fit due to his massive global following, comedic talent, and entrepreneurial flair.
“This safety video is unlike anything you have seen on-board a luxury airline before,” said Hart. “I have loved partnering with Qatar Airways to produce a video that passengers will not only pay attention to but remember for a long time coming.”
Hollywood director brings vision to life
Tim Story, the Hollywood director behind blockbusters such as Think Like a Man and Ride Along, brings his expertise to the project, ensuring that the video strikes the perfect balance between entertainment and essential safety messaging.
Story expressed his excitement about working with Qatar Airways, saying, “When you have a world-class brand such as Qatar Airways stepping out of conventional boxes and providing the creative freedom to set new boundaries, you can really reach new heights.”
Global reach and future plans
Passengers flying on Qatar Airways’ fleet will soon experience this unique safety video, which will feature stunning shots of global destinations such as Paris, New York, Nairobi, and Sydney. The video’s diverse cast and engaging content aim to enhance the passenger experience while maintaining the airline's commitment to safety and excellence.
The film will be available on select flights starting in December 2024, with a full global rollout by January 2025.
