DUBAI: The American Wellness Center (AWC) in Dubai Healthcare City has been officially accredited as a Certified Autism Center (CAC) by the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES).
This recognition highlights AWC’s commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive healthcare environment for autistic and sensory-sensitive individuals.
The certification, awarded by IBCCES, a global leader in neurodiversity training, reinforces AWC’s dedication to delivering specialised, evidence-based care.
Expanding inclusive healthcare
Since opening in 2016, AWC has built a strong reputation for offering ethical, confidential, and multidisciplinary healthcare services. With a team of over 59 expert clinicians across 20 specialties, the centre provides a comprehensive approach to medical, mental, and neurological health. AWC’s certification reflects its commitment to improving healthcare accessibility for neurodiverse individuals, ensuring tailored treatments and accommodations.
As part of its autism-friendly services, AWC offers the Play Attention Program, a cognitive support initiative designed to enhance focus and self-regulation. The facility is also equipped with sensory-friendly accommodations such as noise-cancelling headphones, a dedicated occupational therapy room, and a specially adapted dental setup. Additionally, the centre provides dietary guidance, fidget tools for sensory regulation, and an in-house pharmacy stocked with nutritional supplements tailored for autistic individuals.
Global recognition for accessibility
IBCCES, an organisation operating in over 111 countries, has been at the forefront of autism and neurodiversity certification for more than two decades. Its certification process ensures that medical institutions adopt best practices for accessibility and inclusivity.
“By prioritising autism training and inclusive practices, AWC is setting a higher standard for accessibility in healthcare,” said Myron Pincomb, CEO and Board Chairman of IBCCES. “Their dedication to improving experiences for autistic individuals is commendable, and we are proud to support them in this journey.”
With its new CAC designation, AWC is now listed in the IBCCES Accessibility App directory. This free global resource enables individuals to locate autism-friendly services and view essential details, including available accommodations and contact information.
