DUBAI: This Ramadan, Careem is offering multiple ways for customers to contribute to charitable causes while ordering food, groceries, or making direct donations through its in-app platform, Right Click.
Mudassir Sheikha, CEO and co-founder of Careem, stated: "Ramadan is a time of generosity and reflection, and we feel a deep sense of responsibility to support the communities we serve. We’ve introduced easy ways to give back when ordering food or groceries, and thanks to our incredible partners, we hope to drive meaningful impact that extends beyond Ramadan and fosters a spirit of ongoing giving."
In-app donations
Careem’s Right Click platform allows users to make direct contributions to charitable organisations such as Dubai Cares, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Emirates Red Crescent, and Beit Al Khair. Customers also have the option to set up automatic recurring donations, ensuring consistent long-term support for those in need.
Food baskets for families
Through a partnership with the UAE Food Bank, Careem Groceries enables users to purchase and donate food baskets containing essential items such as rice, flour, beans, and cooking oil. These baskets will be distributed to communities across the UAE, ensuring that struggling families receive necessary supplies during Ramadan.
Eat to donate
Careem Food is relaunching its “Eat a Plate to Fill a Plate” campaign in collaboration with over 500 restaurants in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. For every food order placed via the Careem app, Dh2 will be automatically donated to the World Food Programme in the UAE. This initiative helps provide meals to underserved communities, making it easier for customers to contribute while enjoying their favourite dishes.
Support for Captains
Careem colleagues will distribute Iftar meals to captains at least three times a week in the UAE and every day in Jordan. This initiative aims to support Careem’s driver-partners, who play a vital role in the company’s ecosystem, ensuring they have a meal to break their fast during the holy month.
Technology for good
These Ramadan initiatives are part of Careem’s broader mission to use technology for social good. By integrating donation options within its Everything App, Careem continues to simplify charitable giving, making it more accessible for individuals to contribute and support communities during the holy month.
To participate in Careem’s Ramadan initiatives, customers can download or open the latest version of the Careem app.
