DUBAI: Qatar has announced a new visa-free entry initiative that includes 102 countries, prominently featuring Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nations such as the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Oman.

This move is part of a comprehensive winter campaign aimed at welcoming tourists from the region to explore Qatar’s unique seasonal offerings and cultural heritage.

In a strategic step to enhance tourism, Qatar Tourism's winter campaign is set to attract visitors to the nation's renowned cultural landmarks, vibrant cityscapes, and family-friendly events.

This new campaign targets our neighbours in the GCC, inviting them to experience the warm hospitality and diverse attractions that Qatar offers during the winter, according to Qatar Tourism officials.

What’s new?

Under the updated policy, citizens of 102 nations, including the UAE, can enter Qatar without the need for a visa, making it easier for regional travellers to experience the country’s sights and sounds. The allowable stay durations vary by nationality, and travellers are advised to check specific entry conditions through official channels.

How GCC tourists benefit?

Visit Qatar’s visa-free entry initiative reflects the country’s focus on attracting tourists from the GCC. The visa waiver eliminates lengthy entry processes, allowing visitors to focus on their journeys rather than administrative hurdles. This effort supports Qatar’s broader goal of establishing itself as a top travel destination in the region, especially during the winter season.

Why now?

This year’s winter campaign, launched by Qatar Tourism, encourages GCC tourists to immerse themselves in Qatar's offerings—ideal during the pleasant winter weather. Visitors can participate in a range of cultural and outdoor events, from music and art festivals to desert adventures and coastal activities along the Arabian Gulf.

According to officials, Qatar’s winter season is one of the best times to visit, offering both relaxing and thrilling experiences.

Where to go?

The campaign highlights Qatar’s top winter attractions, such as the Museum of Islamic Art, the National Museum of Qatar, and the Lusail City project, where luxury resorts and entertainment venues provide a truly immersive experience. Alongside these destinations, travellers can explore Doha’s traditional souqs, enjoy dune bashing excursions, or unwind at upscale beachfront resorts. The nation’s acclaimed food scene also invites travellers to sample both traditional and international dishes in high-end dining environments.

Safety Measures

Qatar’s emphasis on regional tourism has proven successful, with a reported 24% increase in visitor numbers following similar initiatives. This uptick is partly credited to Qatar’s streamlined visa policies and dynamic marketing strategies.

To ensure a safe experience, Qatar Tourism has implemented the "Qatar Clean" programme, certifying establishments that meet rigorous hygiene standards. This initiative, developed in collaboration with Qatar’s Ministry of Public Health, guarantees that hotels, restaurants, and tourist attractions maintain high cleanliness protocols. Officials say their top priority is to ensure that visitors feel secure and comfortable during their stay in Qatar.
