Dubai: The Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA) is thrilled to announce the return of the HIGHLANDER Adventure, set to take place from February 7-9, 2025.
This premier long-distance hiking event will challenge enthusiasts on the breathtaking trails of Jebel Jais, the UAE’s longest-developed hiking network spanning 80 kilometers.
This year, a new trail will be added for those just venturing into hiking.
Fadi Hachicho, Managing Director of HIGHLANDER Adventure UAE and Founder of Adventurati Outdoor, expressed excitement about the event, stating, “The 4th edition of HIGHLANDER Adventure underscores our region's growing appeal for adventure travel and sports. We’re committed to celebrating the natural beauty and heritage of Ras Al Khaimah while providing an enriching and enjoyable experience for all participants.”
Discover Ras Al Khaimah's heritage
The HIGHLANDER Adventure offers a unique opportunity to explore Ras Al Khaimah's rich tapestry of history and culture. Hikers will journey through ancient Emirati settlements and vibrant farms, gaining insights into the emirate's past and present.
In addition to the physical challenge, participants will also learn about the importance of preserving the region's natural beauty through educational sessions on ecology.
Three hiking challenges
To cater to different fitness levels and preferences, the event offers three distinct challenges:
Pegasus: A demanding 40km, three-day backpacking trek requiring participants to carry all essential gear and camp under the stars.
Orion: A 25km, two-day trek with camping included.
Lyra: A new 20km single-day hike for those seeking a shorter challenge.
Early bird registration
All three challenges will be held under the supervision of experienced organizers and participants who complete the trail will receive a HIGHLANDER Adventure finisher badge, certificate, ID, bib number, map, and access to an exclusive finish point celebration.
Community and sustainability
The HIGHLANDER Adventure is more than just a hiking event. The event aligns with Ras Al Khaimah's commitment to sustainable tourism, with educational sessions on ecology planned for participants.
