WATCH | Shabbir Merchant leads Pakistan Business Council Dubai into new era of growth
Shabbir Merchant has been elected as the new Chairman of the Pakistan Business Council (PBC) Dubai during a ceremony at the Pakistan Association Dubai.
The event, attended by business leaders and the Pakistani diaspora, featured Pakistan Consul General in Dubai Hussain Muhammad as the Chief Guest, who praised the outgoing Board and expressed confidence in the new leadership.
Merchant outlined a forward-looking vision, focusing on modernising trade practices and empowering start-ups to strengthen UAE-Pakistan economic ties. His first initiative is a membership expansion campaign to unite more Pakistani entrepreneurs in the UAE.
The UAE and Pakistan’s bilateral trade surpassed $10 billion in 2023, underscoring strong economic ties. The PBC, a platform for fostering trade and investment, continues to serve as a bridge between the two nations, with Merchant committed to driving innovation and collaboration.
New Board members include Noor Karim Afridi, Iftikhar Ali Tatlah, Muhammed Saleem Zakria and Kamran Ahmed Riaz.
