Dubai: Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has officially renamed Mashreq Metro Station to InsuranceMarket Metro Station, as announced on Thursday. The renaming, part of RTA's ongoing collaboration with the private sector, will be valid for 10 years.
As part of the rebranding process, RTA will update outdoor signage, as well as smart and electronic systems across the public transport network, including the audio announcements on board metro trains. The transition will take place from September to November this year.
The station, strategically located on Sheikh Zayed Road between the Mall of the Emirates and Dubai Internet City Metro Stations, serves as a major stop along Dubai Metro’s Red Line.
RTA has advised commuters to be aware of the name change and to seek assistance from RTA staff at metro stations during the transition period if needed.
Public-Private Partnership
Abdul Mohsen Ibrahim Kalbat, CEO of the Rail Agency at RTA, emphasized the significance of this partnership with the private sector. “Awarding the naming rights of metro stations to companies is part of our successful partnerships with the private sector in stimulating economic growth in Dubai,” he said.
He further noted that the partnerships, not only benefit RTA’s projects but also create job opportunities and support the private sector in contributing to Dubai’s growth. “Dubai provides an excellent platform for companies to showcase their products and services. This initiative supports businesses by helping them grow locally and expand into international markets,” he added.
Metro naming rights since 2009
Dubai Metro has offered station naming rights since 2009 as part of a revenue-generating strategy. Recent rebrandings include Al Safa Metro Station, now known as Onpassive Metro Station, and Dubai Marina Metro Station, which was renamed Sobha Realty Metro Station. Other stations like Al Jaffliya and Al Rashidiya have also adopted new names, such as Max Fashion and Centrepoint, respectively.
InsuranceMarket
Avinash Babur, founder and CEO of InsuranceMarket.ae, expressed his excitement over the rebranding, calling it a “significant milestone” for the company. He added that having one of Dubai's iconic metro stations named after InsuranceMarket would strengthen the brand’s connection with both residents and visitors.
This rebranding marks another step in Dubai’s initiative to integrate private-sector partnerships into its public transport system, enhancing both business opportunities and service connectivity across the city.
