Abu DhabiWizz Air has set a new benchmark in the aviation industry, becoming the first Ultra Low-Cost Carrier (ULCC) to operate the revolutionary Airbus A321XLR aircraft. This groundbreaking move will allow the airline to offer unprecedentedly low fares on long-haul routes, starting with daily direct flights between Milan and Abu Dhabi from June 2nd, 2025.

Nathalie Jongma, Vice President of Aviation Development at Abu Dhabi Airports said: "We welcome Wizz Air’s announcement and the expansion of its network to Zayed International Airport. The deployment of the Airbus A321XLR on this route is noteworthy, as it allows for longer direct flights on narrow-body aircraft and underscores our commitment to providing travellers with a diverse range of destinations and a seamless travel experience.”

Unbeatable fares

Wizz Air is living up to its reputation for affordability. Tickets for the new Abu Dhabi-Milan route start from a mere AED 429 (approximately USD 117), making long-distance travel more accessible than ever before. This move marks a significant shift in the long-haul market, traditionally dominated by high-priced airlines.

The key to Wizz Air's affordability lies in their brand new Airbus A321XLR (Extra Long Range) aircraft. This innovative plane boasts impressive efficiency and extended range, allowing the airline to offer long-haul flights without compromising on budget. This paves the way for a new era of travel, where budget-conscious adventurers can explore distant destinations without breaking the bank.

Sustainable skies:

Wizz Air emphasizes that the A321XLR is not just cost-effective, but also environmentally friendly. The airline highlights the aircraft's "most sustainable option for flying," suggesting it offers lower emissions compared to traditional long-haul planes.

Strengthening Abu Dhabi's travel hub:

The new route isn't just a win for travelers; it's also a boon for Abu Dhabi. Wizz Air's commitment to the UAE capital is evident in their establishment of Wizz Air Abu Dhabi, a joint venture with ADQ. Since its launch in 2021, Wizz Air Abu Dhabi has grown rapidly, becoming the second-largest carrier in the city by seat capacity.

Between January & August 2024, Wizz Air Abu Dhabi operated more than 11,000 flights and carried more than 1.7 million passengers from/to the UAE Capital.

Currently flying to more than 30 destinations from Abu Dhabi, the national airline introduced a new segment of travel in line with the country’s socio-economic vision, playing a key role in supporting innovation, resilience, and integration of Abu Dhabi’s culture and tourism sectors to share the Emirate with the world and enrich lives.
