Dubai Municipality has officially awarded contracts for the second phase of the Al Mamzar Beach Development Project.

Set for completion by the end of 2025, the two-phase development carries an investment of Dh400 million and aims to create a world-class beach tourism destination.

The project, located in Al Mamzar Corniche, is designed to integrate cutting-edge sustainability measures while meeting global standards in tourism infrastructure. With innovative designs seamlessly connecting Al Mamzar Creek and the Corniche, it promises to transform Dubai’s beachfront into a vibrant hub for residents and tourists alike.

Dubai’s women-only beach

Covering an area of 125,000 square metres and spanning 80 metres in width, Al Mamzar Corniche Beach will feature a dedicated public beach for women. To ensure privacy and safety, the beach will include a gated entrance, fencing, and facilities for night swimming. Amenities will include a sports club, children’s play areas, and various commercial services tailored to family needs.

A highlight of the project is the integration of 1,000 metres of jogging, walking, and cycling tracks. These tracks will link the creek to the corniche, providing visitors with an interconnected, multifaceted recreational experience.

Green spaces and smart facilities

A 5,000-square-metre area will host seasonal events and activities, complemented by a 2,000-square-metre skateboarding park and lush green spaces designed with aesthetic landscaping. For families, children’s play areas, restrooms, and lounge facilities will be available.

Public wellness facilities will include changing rooms, toilets, showers, and dedicated spaces for people of determination. Advanced smart technologies such as AI surveillance systems, drowning rescue tech, and crowd management tools will ensure safety and efficiency. Visitors will also benefit from smart luggage lockers and other convenience-driven services.

Economic opportunities are embedded within the project, with plans for waterfront restaurants, food outlets, and spaces for recreational businesses. This integration of leisure and commerce aims to drive economic growth while enriching the visitor experience.

Phase one achievements

The first phase of the Al Mamzar Beach Development Project, launched in June last year, is already 45% complete. Encompassing 275,000 square metres, it includes a 200-metre-long pedestrian pontoon bridge connecting both banks of the creek. This phase also features a 300-metre-long night swimming beach accessible to people of determination, a 5-kilometre walkway, and tracks for jogging and cycling.

Additionally, phase one offers three children’s play zones, two recreational areas, and extensive facilities such as barbecue spots, jet ski marinas, and 1,400 car parking spaces. Eight toilet blocks, changing rooms, and shower areas enhance the beach's functionality, ensuring convenience for all visitors.

Strategic Vision for Dubai

Bader Anwahi, CEO of the Public Facilities Agency at Dubai Municipality, highlighted the project's alignment with His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s vision to make Dubai the world’s best city to live, work, and visit. “We are committed to creating sustainable infrastructure that elevates Dubai’s global position across key sectors and supports the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 targets,” Anwahi said.

By redefining concepts of beach design, Dubai Municipality aims to combine sustainability with modern aesthetics, ensuring the emirate’s beaches remain among the most advanced globally. This project is part of a broader strategy to enhance Dubai’s tourism and recreational appeal, improving quality of life for residents and visitors alike.
