DUBAI: Dubai is gearing up for an electrifying ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final between India and New Zealand this Sunday, with security measures at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium tightened to ensure a safe and seamless experience for players and fans alike.
The Dubai Events Security Committee (ESC) has confirmed that all preparations are in place for the high-stakes match, which is expected to draw tens of thousands of passionate cricket fans.
The announcement came after a key meeting at the Dubai Police Officers Club, chaired by Major General Abdullah Ali Al Ghaithi, Assistant Commandant for Operations Affairs, alongside Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, Director of the General Traffic Department, and Khalid Al Zarooni, Vice Chairman of the Emirates Cricket Board.
Major General Al Ghaithi highlighted Dubai’s growing reputation as a premier sporting hub, crediting the UAE’s leadership for its investment in world-class infrastructure and security capabilities. “The UAE continues to set global benchmarks for hosting international events with safety, efficiency, and top-tier facilities,” he said.
Security measures will include advanced surveillance, strict entry screenings, and dedicated patrols inside and outside the stadium. Traffic diversions and public transport reinforcements have also been arranged to manage the expected surge of spectators.
Road to the Final: India vs New Zealand
India enter the final as the tournament’s only unbeaten team, having displayed dominant performances throughout. Led by Rohit Sharma, they stormed past Bangladesh and Pakistan in the group stage before securing a 44-run victory over New Zealand. Their semi-final clash saw them overpower defending champions Australia, thanks to a match-winning 84 by Virat Kohli.
New Zealand, meanwhile, showed resilience after an early loss to India, bouncing back to beat South Africa by 50 runs in the semi-finals. Rachin Ravindra’s stunning century (108) and captain Kane Williamson’s composed 102 helped them post a record 362-run total in Lahore, securing their place in the Dubai final.
With both teams chasing history—India aiming for a record third Champions Trophy title and New Zealand seeking their second—the anticipation for Sunday’s final is at an all-time high.
