Emiratis travelling through Abu Dhabi’s Zayed International Airport can now renew their passports in less than five minutes if their current passport is expired or has a validity of fewer than six months.
The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Ports Security (ICP) confirmed that this service is available round the clock at the airport’s Customer Happiness Centre.
This initiative aims to enhance convenience for UAE nationals, ensuring seamless travel and reinforcing Zayed International Airport’s position as a world-class aviation hub.
Instant passport renewal
According to the ICP, the new passport issued will be valid for up to ten years. Travellers only need to present their expired or soon-to-expire passport, with no additional documents required. The service eliminates travel disruptions by allowing passengers to complete the renewal process without leaving the airport.
In addition to passport renewals, the ICP office at the airport provides a range of electronic services, including updating traveller information, checking entry and exit records, and accessing visa and residency details.
Non-urgent renewals
For non-urgent cases, Emiratis can renew their passports through various other channels, including:
- The Federal Authority’s electronic services system
- The UAEICP smart application
- Customer Happiness Centres across the country (for special cases)
- 24/7 urgent passport issuance at Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Sharjah airports
The UAE continues to strengthen its global travel standing, with its passport ranked as the world’s most powerful for the fourth consecutive year, allowing visa-free access to 133 countries and visa-on-arrival entry to 47 more.
