Dubai:  Dubai is poised to claim the title of having the world's best public beaches with the launch of the Jebel Ali Beach Development Project. This ambitious initiative, stretching 6.6 kilometers along the coastline, prioritizes both leisure and environmental sustainability.

Following directives from His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai,  the project received approval from Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai. This underlines the project's significance within Dubai's vision for the future.

A Destination for all

Jebel Ali Beach is set to become Dubai's longest public beach, spanning a vast 330 hectares. The development plan incorporates two distinct zones:

  • A 5-kilometer sandy beach developed by Nakheel, catering to relaxation and recreational activities.

  • A 1.6-kilometer mangrove beach developed by Dubai Municipality, focusing on preserving the unique ecosystem and enriching the visitor experience.

Features of the beach

  • A 2-kilometer designated swimming area.
  • A 2.5-kilometer zone dedicated to diving sports.
  • Viewing platforms for visitors to appreciate the natural beauty.
  • Recreational and service areas for visitor enjoyment.

Beyond these, the project will provide excellent infrastructure:

  • A two-lane road for easy access.
  • Ample parking spaces for 1,000 vehicles.
  • Dedicated spaces for cyclists with 80 bicycle racks and a cycling track.
  • A 5-kilometer running track for fitness enthusiasts.

Aesthetics meeting functionality

Sheikh Hamdan also approved architectural designs that seamlessly blend aesthetics with functionality, catering to various beach activities.

The project extends beyond leisure, offering exceptional services and eco-tourism experiences such as turtle watching in their natural habitat. Conservation efforts will ensure the protection and rehabilitation of turtles, aligning with the UAE's broader commitment to sustainability.

Dubai's commitment to urban excellence

Sheikh Hamdan emphasized Dubai's dedication to creating a world-class living environment: "We are committed to developing infrastructure and services to enhance urban experiences for citizens, residents, and visitors, making Dubai the world's best place to live."

Aligned with Dubai's vision

The Jebel Ali Beach Development Project is part of a comprehensive plan to increase Dubai's public beach space by a staggering 400%. This initiative, aligned with the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan, involves adding new public beaches and enhancing existing ones.

Sustainability at the forefront

Mattar Al Tayer, Commissioner-General for Infrastructure, Urban Planning, and Well-Being Pillar, highlighted the project's commitment to environmental protection. The beach's location within the Jebel Ali Wildlife Sanctuary reinforces this focus, aiming to enhance ecosystems and protect wildlife, including turtle habitats and mangrove trees.

The project will be divided into three distinct areas:

  1. The Pearl: Dedicated to family and sports activities.
  2. The Sanctuary: Focused on environmental conservation.
  3. The Nest: Offering educational and environmental initiatives.

Architectural designs will draw inspiration from the surrounding marine environment and utilize local materials.

Beyond Jebel Ali

Dubai's commitment to world-class beaches extends beyond Jebel Ali. Developments are also underway at Al Mamzar and Jumeirah 1 Beaches, aiming to create advanced and attractive recreational tourism destinations. These projects will include facilities like public restrooms, shower areas, kids' play zones, barbecue areas, and ample parking to ensure a comfortable and convenient experience for visitors.

Dubai's vision for its beaches goes beyond leisure, aiming to create a haven for both residents and tourists while preserving the emirate's natural beauty.
