Britain will host a range of major events and celebrations across every walk of life

London:  In 2025, Britain is preparing for a year filled with high-profile events, cultural celebrations, and new attractions.

Key highlights include the 250th anniversary of Jane Austen's birth, Bradford being named the UK City of Culture, and the Women's Rugby World Cup.

These events, alongside several new openings and relaunches of iconic landmarks, position Britain as a must-visit destination in 2025.

Cultural milestones 

Bradford will take the spotlight as the 2025 UK City of Culture, offering over 1,000 events and the reopening of the National Science and Media Museum after a major renovation.

The south of England will celebrate the 250th anniversary of Jane Austen's birth, with special events in places tied to her life, such as Bath and Hampshire.

London’s V&A East will debut with ‘The Music Is Black: A British Story,’ while other notable exhibitions include ‘Wildlife Photographer of the Year’ at the Natural History Museum and ‘Turner and Constable’ at Tate Britain, commemorating the 250th birthday of these renowned painters.

History brought to life

The year will also mark the 200th anniversary of the modern railway, with the Railway 200 programme featuring the opening of the New Hall at the Locomotion museum in County Durham and the renovated Station Hall at the National Railway Museum in York.

Additionally, the Greenwich Royal Observatory will celebrate its 350th anniversary, while the Inverness Castle Experience and Leicester’s Jewry Wall Museum will provide immersive journeys into Scotland's and Leicester’s history. The Hull Maritime Museum will also reopen with new exhibits.
