Abu Dhabi:  Invest and Trade Western Australia, in collaboration with StudyPerth, hosted the highly successful Destination Western Australia event in Dubai, uniting over 100 key stakeholders, including university leaders, school counselors, government scholarship providers, and industry experts.

The event aimed to boost education partnerships between the UAE and Western Australia, focusing on opportunities in global education, training, and innovation.

Landmark collaboration announced

A key moment of the evening was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Curtin University and Abu Dhabi Ports, marking a new phase of collaboration that will foster student exchange programs, joint research, and other cooperative initiatives.

Keynote speeches highlight global opportunities

The event featured insights from prominent Western Australian university leaders in Dubai, including Professor Ammar Kaka, Pro Vice Chancellor of Curtin University Dubai, and Omid Honari, General Manager of Navitas Dubai/Murdoch University Dubai.

They highlighted the unique advantages of studying in Western Australia and the potential for global innovation through education.

In a panel discussion titled ‘Exploring Collaboration between Western Australia and the UAE in International Education: Unlocking Global Opportunities’, industry experts explored how these partnerships can open new doors for students and institutions alike.

Australian consul-general’s closing remarks

Her Excellency Bryony Hilless, Australian Consul-General in Dubai, closed the event by emphasising the world-class quality of Western Australian education and the potential for deeper collaboration. “Partnerships like these foster innovation and provide new opportunities for students and industry,” she said, underscoring the shared commitment to excellence in education.
