Ottawa:  The Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) is on the hunt for bilingual individuals to join its ranks. The agency is offering competitive salaries of up to $120,917 per year for Foreign Language Communications Analysts who are fluent in Arabic, Mandarin, Russian, Punjabi, Urdu, or Hindi.

Job location

These positions are available in various regional offices across Canada, including Burnaby, Edmonton, Calgary, Regina, Winnipeg, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, and Halifax.

Job description

As a Foreign Language Communications Analyst, you'll play a vital role in national security by translating and analyzing foreign language materials. Your insights can help uncover critical information that protects Canadians.

In addition to language skills, CSIS is seeking individuals with a keen interest in intelligence, politics, and research. Strong computer skills and a familiarity with social media are also essential.

Eligibility?

To qualify for the role, candidates must be Canadian citizens with a bachelor’s degree from a recognized Canadian institution. Additionally, applicants need at least two years of experience in research, analysis, and report writing. Fluency in one of the required languages—Arabic, Mandarin, Russian, Punjabi, Urdu, or Hindi—along with proficiency in either English or French is also a must.

Requirements

Given the nature of the work, CSIS has stringent security requirements. Applicants must obtain an "Enhanced Top Secret" security clearance, which involves a security interview, polygraph test, and an extensive background check, including a review of financial records. Furthermore, any use of illegal drugs after applying could result in disqualification from the selection process.
