DUBAI: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif will undertake a two-day official visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from 10-11 February 2025 at the invitation of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

The visit coincides with the World Governments Summit (WGS) in Dubai, where the Pakistani leader will join global policymakers, Heads of State, and private sector leaders in discussions on governance, innovation, and international cooperation.

World Governments Summit in Dubai

The World Governments Summit serves as a premier platform for shaping future governance models. PM Shehbaz will deliver a keynote address, outlining Pakistan’s vision for inclusive economic growth, digital transformation, and governance reforms. His speech is expected to highlight Pakistan’s commitment to technological progress and economic resilience on the global stage.

Strengthening diplomatic and economic ties

This marks Shehbaz Sharif’s second visit to the UAE since assuming office in March 2024. Accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar and other senior Cabinet members, his agenda includes high-level bilateral meetings with UAE leadership, reinforcing Pakistan’s strategic partnership with the Gulf nation.

In addition, the Prime Minister will meet with global leaders and CEOs of multinational corporations, seeking investment opportunities and new avenues for economic collaboration.

Pakistan-UAE relations

Pakistan and the UAE share deep-rooted brotherly ties, built on mutual trust, understanding, and long-standing economic cooperation. The UAE remains one of Pakistan’s key trade and investment partners, with collaborations spanning energy, infrastructure, and commerce.

The Pakistani diaspora in the UAE – the second-largest Pakistani expatriate community worldwide – continues to play a pivotal role in strengthening bilateral ties, contributing to the UAE’s economy while sending vital remittances to Pakistan.
