Dubai’s private school sector sees a 6% increase in enrolment, reaching 387,441 students in the 2024-25 academic year, with 10 new schools added.
Dubai’s private school sector has continued its robust growth trajectory, with a notable six percent rise in student enrolment during the 2024-25 academic year, according to the latest figures released by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA).
The total number of students enrolled across the city’s private schools now stands at 387,441, spanning 227 schools that offer 17 different curricula.
The latest data also reveals the expansion of Dubai’s private school infrastructure, with 10 new institutions opening their doors in the current academic year. This aligns with the ambitious Dubai Education Strategy E33, which aims to establish at least 100 new private schools by 2033.
Aisha Miran, Director General of KHDA, spoke about the city’s flourishing educational environment, stating, “Dubai continues to be an attractive destination for families seeking world-class education and for educators dedicated to shaping future generations. The growth in student enrolment, alongside the expansion of new schools, reflects the strength of the city’s education ecosystem.”
Increased Emirati enrolment
Dubai’s private school sector continues to cater to a diverse student population, offering 17 different curricula. The UK curriculum remains the most popular choice, with 37 percent of students enrolled, followed by the Indian curriculum at 26 percent. The US curriculum ranks third at 14%, while the International Baccalaureate (IB) and UK/IB hybrid curricula round out the top five choices.
Notably, the enrolment of Emirati students has also seen a steady increase, with 33,210 Emirati students now attending private schools in Dubai. The US curriculum is particularly favoured by Emirati families, followed by the UK and IB curricula. The E33 Strategy places significant emphasis on providing Emirati students with access to high-quality education and fostering a culture of lifelong learning.
Dubai attracts top global educators
The city’s success in attracting international educators is also evident in the latest data, with the number of teachers employed in private schools reaching 27,284 – an increase of 9 percent compared to the previous academic year. This surge in teacher recruitment further strengthens Dubai’s position as a premier destination for educators seeking professional growth and development.
