Kuwait has reintroduced its electronic visa (e-Visa) system, now featuring a more efficient and user-friendly process.

After a temporary suspension in December 2024 for upgrades, the new e-Visa platform is live, catering to travellers from 53 eligible countries and GCC residents.

The e-Visa system enables tourists, business visitors, and those visiting family to apply seamlessly online, eliminating long waits and unnecessary paperwork. This digital solution reflects Kuwait's commitment to enhancing its appeal as a travel destination.

Eligibility for Kuwait eVisa

Residents of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, including the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, and Bahrain, are eligible for a Kuwait e-Visa or visa on arrival if their professional titles match the specified categories.

Eligible professions:

  • Doctors, engineers, teachers, and lawyers.
  • Media professionals, journalists, and pilots.
  • Businesspeople, managers, and IT professionals.
  • Diplomats and other senior officials.

For UAE residents, eligibility depends on the profession listed on the Emirates ID.

Applicants must provide:

  • A recent passport-sized photo.
  • Proof of accommodation (e.g., hotel booking or host’s address).
  • A confirmed round-trip flight ticket.

Citizens from 53 countries, including the UK, USA, Germany, Japan, and Australia, can obtain a visa upon arrival. Travellers from these nations also have the option of applying online for added convenience.

Alternatives for non-eligible applicants

If you do not qualify for an e-Visa or visa on arrival, you can apply for:

  • Visit Visa: Requires sponsorship by a Kuwaiti resident or company.
  • Business Visa: Proof of professional travel purpose needed.
  • Government Visa: Designed for officials attending international conferences or meetings.

These alternatives require applying through Kuwait's embassies or consulates.
