Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has issued a traffic advisory ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy final, warning motorists of expected congestion near Dubai Sports City.

With India and New Zealand set to battle for the prestigious title today (Sunday, March 9), heavy traffic is anticipated on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road (E311) and Hessa Street.

According to the RTA, delays are likely between 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM, as fans make their way to Dubai International Cricket Stadium, and again from 8:00 PM to 11:00 PM, following the match.

Plan your journey in advance

In an official advisory posted on X, the RTA urged commuters to plan their trips early and consider alternative routes to avoid congestion. “Delays are expected on both Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road and Hessa Street due to the start of the ICC Champions Trophy at Dubai Sports City, on March 9, 2025, from 11 AM until 2 PM, and from 8 PM until 11 PM. RTA advises you to plan your trips in advance and leave early to ensure smooth movement during the event.”

Public transport users are encouraged to check metro and bus schedules, while those driving to the venue should arrive well before match hours to avoid last-minute rushes. Parking at the stadium is expected to reach full capacity early in the day.

Use public transport for a hassle-free trip

To ease travel, the RTA recommends using its integrated public transport network. Spectators can park at Centrepoint, E& (Etisalat), or Jebel Ali Metro stations and take the Dubai Metro to Jumeirah Golf Estates Station, where free shuttle buses will operate from 10:00AM to transport fans to the event venue.

As excitement builds for the first ICC final at Dubai International Cricket Stadium in nearly three years, authorities anticipate increased demand for taxis and ride-hailing services. Motorists not attending the match are advised to avoid the affected areas during peak congestion hours.

With thousands expected to witness history unfold, Dubai’s roads are set for a busy day as cricket fever grips the city.
