DUBAI: During the holy month of Ramadan, Muslims in the United Arab Emirates and around the world dedicate themselves to fasting, prayers, and acts of generosity.

As part of these spiritual commitments, fulfilling Zakat al-Fitr and Kaffarah is essential to ensure that those in need receive support.

To guide residents in meeting these obligations, the UAE Council for Fatwa has issued the official 2025 guidelines, detailing the required amounts, food quantities, and beneficiaries for each category.

Zakat al-Fitr

  • Quantity: Two and a half kilograms (2.5 kg) of rice per person
  • Amount: 25 Dh
  • Number of Beneficiaries: One or more needy individuals

Kaffarah for breaking the fast

  • Quantity: Three and a quarter kilograms (3.250 kg) of wheat per needy individual
  • Amount: 15 Dh (Total: 900 Dh)
  • Number of Beneficiaries: Sixty needy individuals

Fidya for those unable to fast

  • Quantity: Three and a quarter kilograms (3.250 kg) of wheat per day
  • Amount: 15 Dh
  • Number of Beneficiaries: One needy individual per day

Kaffarah for a deceased person who owed fasts

  • Quantity: Three and a quarter kilograms (3.250 kg) of wheat per day
  • Amount: 15 Dh
  • Number of Beneficiaries: One needy individual per day

Kaffarah for delaying missed Ramadan fasts without a valid reason

Kaffarah for breaking an oath

Providing Iftar for a fasting person
