RIYADH: Saudi Arabia has announced that children will not be allowed to accompany pilgrims during the 2025 Hajj season.

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah stated that the decision aims to ensure children's safety and prevent exposure to the risks posed by extreme congestion at the holy sites.

Additionally, the ministry reaffirmed that priority for Hajj 2025 will be given to those performing the pilgrimage for the first time. This move is intended to promote fairness, regulate the number of repeat pilgrims, and ease crowd management.

Registration now open

Saudi citizens and residents can now register for Hajj 2025 through the official online portal and the Nusuk app. The ministry has urged applicants to verify their details, add companions where necessary, and apply for exemptions related to mahrams.

Payment in installments

In a key development, domestic pilgrims can now pay for their Hajj packages in three installments. The payment structure includes:

  • 20% of the package cost within 72 hours of booking.
  • 40% by Ramadan 20.
  • The remaining 40% by Shawwal 20.

The ministry clarified that a booking remains unconfirmed until the final payment is completed, with invoices issued for each installment.

Enhancing pilgrim experience

Several new measures have been introduced to improve safety and streamline operations for Hajj 2025. These include:

  • Smart systems to manage the movement of pilgrims.
  • Upgraded camps and pathways for improved comfort.
  • Increased awareness campaigns on health precautions.
