DUBAI: Saudi authorities have introduced a fleet of ambulance scooters at the Prophet’s Mosque in Medina to enhance emergency medical response during Ramadan 2025.

The Medina Health Cluster launched the initiative to provide swift assistance in congested areas where conventional ambulances face access challenges.

The service aims to ensure rapid intervention as millions of worshippers visit the mosque during the holy month. The specialised medical scooters, operated by trained paramedics, allow responders to navigate through dense crowds and administer immediate care. Patients requiring further attention are transported to nearby medical facilities.

According to the Medina Health Cluster, 91 cases have already been attended to since the service was introduced at the start of Ramadan. Critical patients have been transferred to hospitals and medical centres, including Al Salam Endowment Hospital, Al Haram Hospital, and healthcare units at Al Safiya and Bab Jibril.

The ambulance scooters are equipped with essential medical supplies, enabling paramedics to handle a range of emergency situations efficiently. Authorities emphasise that the initiative is part of broader efforts to improve healthcare accessibility and response times at key religious sites during peak periods.

The service highlights Saudi Arabia’s commitment to ensuring the well-being of pilgrims and visitors during Ramadan, a time when the Prophet’s Mosque experiences an influx of worshippers from across the world.
