DUBAI: Paying for parking in Dubai is set to become quicker and more seamless as Salik, the operator of Dubai’s toll gates, has announced the launch of automatic parking payments at 18 new locations across the city, in partnership with smart parking company Parkonic.
This rollout, expected to go live next week, marks the latest phase in the expansion of Salik’s eWallet system, offering a fully digital parking experience.
The system eliminates the need for paper tickets, barriers or payment machines. Instead, vehicles are automatically recognised upon entry and exit, with parking fees directly deducted from the driver’s Salik eWallet.
The feature is already operational in over 100 locations across the UAE.
New locations
The newly announced sites include a mix of retail, leisure, and residential destinations. Among the retail additions are Union Coop branches in Al Barsha, Al Twar, Al Qouz, Nad Al Hamar, Mankhool, Silicon Oasis, and Umm Suqeim, along with Lulu Hypermarket in Al Qusais.
For leisure seekers, the system will now function at Marina Walk, Park Islands, Heera Beach, West Palm Beach, and The Beach at JBR.
Residential and mixed-use zones include Azure Residence, Opus Tower in Business Bay, Cedre Villas Community Centre, and Burj Vista.
Smart parking push
Salik CEO Ibrahim Sultan Al Haddad noted that this collaboration with Parkonic aligns with the UAE’s broader smart city vision. Parkonic’s AI-driven parking infrastructure is integrated with Salik’s eWallet under a five-year partnership. Parkonic already manages sites such as Central Park, Global Village, and Dubai Harbour, with services also active in Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Fujairah.
The aim is to reduce time at meters, ease congestion, and simplify urban mobility across the Emirates.
