DUBAI: The Austrian city of Graz is set to welcome a new hospitality offering this spring, as Dubai-based Leva Hotels makes its European debut with the launch of EKONO by Leva Hotel Strasser.

Scheduled to open in May 2025, the hotel represents a strategic rebranding of the long-established Best Western Hotel Strasser.

Situated in the heart of Graz, the 75-room hotel will continue operating under its current three-star classification but will feature a renewed identity in line with Leva’s upscale lifestyle branding.

The transformation includes refined soft services, a modernised food and beverage concept, and enhanced guest engagement strategies. These additions aim to combine local character with Leva’s signature international hospitality standards.

EKONO By Leva Hotel Strasser

The hotel, originally founded in 1900 by Theodor and Josefa Strasser, is the second-oldest in Graz and has long held a place of prominence within the city’s hospitality scene. It will retain its unique historical charm while embracing contemporary upgrades inspired by Leva’s commitment to comfort, efficiency and design-forward hospitality.

According to Leva Hotels’ founder and CEO, JS Anand, the move aligns with the brand’s broader vision of establishing a footprint in key emerging European markets. “Graz is a city rich in history, culture, and forward-thinking energy — a perfect match for our first European property,” said Anand. “EKONO By Leva Hotel Strasser offers a fresh, contemporary hotel experience tailored to both business travellers and leisure guests.”

Leva Hotels has joined forces with the hotel’s existing owner, Haris Jasarevic, legal advisor Atty. Rafael Gilkarov, and Vienna-based hospitality consultant Patrick Frankl of FRANKL CONSULT GmbH Hotel Investment & Consulting. Under this collaboration, all current hotel staff will remain in their roles, ensuring a smooth transition and continuity of service.

Tourism and growth

The rebranding arrives as Graz continues to build on its appeal as both a tourist and business destination. Austria saw a two percent rise in overnight stays in 2024, and Graz remains a key contributor to that growth, known for its UNESCO-listed Old Town, vibrant arts scene, and academic institutions. The central location of EKONO by Leva Hotel Strasser makes it ideally positioned for visitors seeking easy access to cultural landmarks and transport links.

For hotel owner Haris Jasarevic, the partnership with Leva signifies an important moment for the property. “We are excited to partner with Leva Hotels and bring a new level of service and innovation to Graz,” he stated. “This rebranding marks a pivotal moment in the city and the hotel's legacy, offering guests a modern, elevated experience that’s both accessible and authentic to Graz’s spirit.”

The EKONO by Leva Hotel Strasser is the first of several European properties Leva Hotels plans to introduce. Discussions are already underway for additional locations across the continent, with further announcements expected later in 2025. Founded in Dubai, Leva Hotels is steadily expanding its global footprint while maintaining a strong focus on personalised service and local integration.
