Washington -- The 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris have officially ended, culminating in a spectacular closing Ceremony. The final day of competition saw Team USA capture gold in women’s basketball, adding to their already impressive medal haul.

The United States ended the Paris Olympics with a commanding lead in the overall medal count, securing 126 medals compared to China’s 91.

Despite this decisive advantage, both nations finished with an unprecedented tie in the gold medal count, each claiming 40 golds.

Historically, team USA and China have been dominant forces, but this unique tie has sparked conversations among fans and analysts about their all-time standings.

The United States maintains a staggering lead in the all-time Summer Olympics gold medal count. Since the inaugural 1896 Athens Games, Team USA has amassed 1,061 gold medals out of a total of 2,629 medals. This impressive tally significantly outpaces other nations.
