This futuristic transport will cut Abu Dhabi-Dubai travel to 30 minutes for Dh165
Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s a seaglider!

DUBAI: A futuristic transport system is set to redefine travel between the UAE’s two biggest cities, cutting journey times to just 30 minutes at a cost of Dhs165.
The Viceroy Seaglider, developed by American start-up Regent Craft, was unveiled at the World Governments Summit in Dubai this week.
The all-electric vehicle combines the speed of an aircraft with the accessibility of a boat, offering a fast, efficient, and eco-friendly alternative to existing transport options.
How it works
The Seaglider operates in three distinct modes: it floats at the dock for boarding, takes off from the water to minimise drag, and then cruises just above the surface at speeds of up to 290 km/h (180 mph).
Designed for coastal cities, the vehicle harnesses the wing-in-ground effect, a technology that enhances speed and efficiency while maintaining stability over water.
How much will it cost?
With a fare set at Dhs165, the Seaglider is expected to be a more affordable option compared to taxis while significantly reducing travel time.

Regent Craft's CEO, Billy Thalheimer, highlighted that consumer interest in the UAE far exceeds global demand, with 98% of surveyed residents expressing enthusiasm for the project, compared to 86% globally.
What’s next?
The Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO) had previously signed an agreement to collaborate on the Seaglider’s development, supporting its introduction to the region. While the prototype is undergoing testing this year, full-scale deployment is anticipated by 2026, with the UAE playing a key role in its global rollout.
As the UAE pushes forward with cutting-edge mobility solutions, the Seaglider joins an array of futuristic transport projects, including flying taxis, which are expected to debut in Abu Dhabi as early as this year. If successful, this innovation could transform inter-city travel, making it faster, cleaner, and more efficient than ever before.
