The excitement is building as the historic Sharjah Cricket Stadium is set to host the Superfix Tape Ball Cricket Championship Season 3 next month.
This much-anticipated tournament is set to commence on December 13, running through December 15, and will feature ten teams, including cricketing giants Pakistan and India.
During a press conference held at a local hotel in Dubai, Naveed Ahmed, Chairman of the Superfix Group, along with key team members—Umar Farooq (Director of Strategic Alliances), Arshad Anjum (Media Director), and Sajad Abbasi (Director of Field Operations)—officially announced the tournament’s details.
This year, renowned Pakistani cricketer Saqlain Mushtaq has been named the brand ambassador for the tournament.
In his address, Chairman Naveed Ahmed highlighted Saqlain Mushtaq's role as a significant addition to the tournament, following previous ambassadors like Chris Gayle and Shahid Afridi. He emphasised that Saqlain's involvement reflects the increasing popularity of the event.
Ahmed elaborated on the championship's broader objectives, which include showcasing cricket talent within the UAE and the Middle East. He noted that the tournament also aims to celebrate the UAE National Day, reinforcing a message of community unity and responsible citizenship among residents.
Superfix Tape Ball Cricket Championship Season 3
Umar Farooq provided insights into the tournament structure, revealing that ten teams will compete. The teams will represent Pakistan, India, the UAE, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh.
The tournament will consist of 23 matches divided into two groups, each inning featuring 6 overs. Additionally, Farooq announced a cash prize of 30,000 dirhams for the winning team and 15,000 dirhams for the runner-up.
Arshad Anjum, the Media Director, underscored the importance of media coverage in elevating the tournament's profile, noting that it not only enhances the event's visibility in the UAE but also contributes to a positive perception of the cricketing community worldwide.
Sajad Abbasi addressed journalists' queries, assuring them that preparations for the tournament are progressing robustly. He expressed optimism that this year's Superfix tournament will provide top-notch entertainment for Emirates residents.
Abbasi also expressed his gratitude to the Superfix team for their tireless efforts and dedication in organizing a successful event.
