DUBAI: Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, today presented the prestigious $1 million ‘One Billion Award’ to British content creator Simon Squibb.
The award ceremony took place during the third edition of the 1 Billion Followers Summit, a globally renowned event dedicated to the content creator economy.
Held from 11 to 13 January across iconic venues, including Emirates Towers, DIFC, and the Museum of the Future, the summit convened over 15,000 creators, 420 speakers, and 125 CEOs under the theme ‘Content for Good.’
Who is Simon Squibb?
Simon Squibb was honoured for his impactful work that empowers individuals to achieve their dreams. With over nine million followers, Squibb’s content showcases resilience and innovation, inspiring future leaders while addressing pressing global challenges.
At just 15, Squibb began his entrepreneurial journey by starting a gardening business. Later, he launched ventures in China, including Fluids, and invested in numerous enterprises. His digital platform ‘HelpBnk’ now offers free business advice, reflecting his mission to drive positive societal change.

Sheikha Latifa highlighted the UAE’s dedication to fostering a thriving environment for creatives. Guided by the leadership of UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the vision of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the initiative underscores the nation’s resolve to empower content creators to inspire and engage global audiences.
“Meaningful and positive content holds transformative power, shaping societies and fostering innovation,” Sheikha Latifa remarked, emphasising the UAE’s role in advancing digital excellence and the creative economy.
1 Billion Followers Summit
The 1 Billion Followers Summit brought together industry leaders, including speakers and influencers such as Ahmed ElGhandour, Prajakta Koli, and Zachery Dereniowski. A panel of experts selected Squibb for his originality and ability to create content with profound social impact.
Over 16,000 submissions from 190 countries vied for the ‘One Billion Award.’ Entrants were evaluated on innovation, adherence to ethical guidelines, and their ability to foster meaningful engagement.
The UAE Government Media Office organised the summit, further cementing Dubai’s reputation as a hub for creativity and innovation.
