MUMBAI: Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan celebrated his 60th birthday on Thursday by introducing his new partner, Gauri Spratt, to the media.
The actor, known for his private nature, revealed that Gauri has been a close friend for 25 years and that they have been in a committed relationship for over a year.
Speaking at a press interaction in Mumbai, Aamir shared, “Gauri and I have been together for a year and a half. We first met 25 years ago, and now we are partners.”
The actor further disclosed that he introduced her to industry stalwarts Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan during a private dinner at his residence a day before his birthday.
Who is Gauri Spratt?
Gauri Spratt, originally from Bengaluru, is an entrepreneur and a mother to a six-year-old son. She has a mixed Tamil and Irish heritage and has now moved in with Aamir. Though she works within his production house, she has limited exposure to Bollywood. According to Aamir, she has only watched a few of his films, including Lagaan and Dangal.
Aamir joked about his Lagaan character Bhuvan finally finding his Gauri, referencing Gracy Singh’s role in the 2001 blockbuster. He also serenaded his partner with a few lines from the classic song Kabhi Kabhi Mere Dil Mein.
Aamir Khan’s past marriages
Aamir Khan was previously married to Reena Dutta (1986-2002), with whom he shares two children, Junaid and Ira. His second marriage to filmmaker Kiran Rao lasted from 2005 to 2021, and they co-parent their 12-year-old son, Azad. Despite their separation, Aamir and Kiran continue to collaborate on professional projects and remain close as a family.
During the interaction, Aamir reflected on his relationships, stating, “I don’t know if getting married at 60 suits me, but my children are happy, and that’s what matters.”
Gauri has already met Aamir’s family and received their approval. As she adapts to life in Bollywood’s spotlight, Aamir has requested the media to respect her privacy.
Pre-birthday gathering
Just days before his birthday, Aamir hosted Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan at his Mumbai residence on Wednesday evening.
Videos and photos circulating online captured the two stars exiting Aamir's home. Shah Rukh, dressed in a black hoodie, attempted to dodge the paparazzi with the help of an umbrella and security guards, while Salman opted for a casual t-shirt.
The trio reportedly discussed multiple topics, including the possibility of a sequel to their 1994 cult comedy Andaz Apna Apna. Director Rajkumar Santoshi, who helmed the original film, was also present. However, no official confirmation has been made regarding the sequel.
