More Indian travellers can now get UAE Visa-on-Arrival – details here
New policy covers residency permit holders from six additional countries

DUBAI: Indian passport holders now have greater access to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) under a newly expanded visa-on-arrival programme.
Effective February 13, the UAE has extended this facility to Indian nationals who hold valid residence permits or visas from six additional countries.
Previously, only those with valid US, UK, or EU visas or residence permits were eligible. The updated policy now includes Indian residents of Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, Singapore, and South Korea.
This expansion enables a larger number of Indian travellers to enter the UAE without prior visa applications.
Who qualifies?
To be eligible, Indian nationals must:
- Hold an ordinary Indian passport valid for at least six months.
- Possess a valid visa or residence permit from any of the listed eligible countries.
- Pay the applicable visa fees as per UAE regulations.
This initiative is applicable at all UAE entry points, including Dubai International Airport and Dubai World Central.
Visa fees and extensions
The UAE offers multiple visa-on-arrival options:
- 14-day visa: Dh100
- 14-day extension: Dh250
- 60-day visa: Dh250
Travellers opting for an extended stay can apply for the relevant visa extension, subject to UAE immigration policies.
Why this initiative?
Major General Suhail Saeed Al Khaili, Director General of the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security (ICP), stated that the expansion aligns with the UAE’s long-term strategic partnership with India.
The move is aimed at enhancing travel convenience, allowing Indian nationals and their families to explore residency, employment, and tourism opportunities in the UAE. Additionally, the policy seeks to attract skilled professionals, business leaders, and entrepreneurs, reinforcing the UAE’s position as a global economic hub.
Visa exemptions for diplomats
India has also signed multiple visa exemption agreements for holders of diplomatic and official passports. Under a mutual arrangement, Indian diplomatic passport holders can enter the UAE without a visa for up to 90 days, further strengthening bilateral ties.
Alternative visa options
For Indian travellers who do not meet the visa-on-arrival criteria, the UAE provides 11 different visa categories, including:
- Tourist visa
- Student visa
- Job-seeker visa
- Multi-entry visa
