DUBAI: Harvard University’s International Relations Council (IRC), in collaboration with WorldView Education, hosted the prestigious Harvard Model United Nations (HMUN) Dubai 2025 from 11 to 13 January.
Held at Le Meridien Hotel & Conference Center, the event saw over 1,000 students from 73 institutions and 48 countries come together to discuss global challenges and propose solutions.
Pakistani students made a remarkable impact at the conference, with 87 delegates representing top institutions such as the C.A.S. School Karachi, Learning Alliance Lahore, Cadet College Hassan Abdal, Lahore Grammar School, and Roots International. Among their achievements, they secured accolades in some of the largest debate committees and won the coveted Best Small Delegation Award.
Diplomatic support for Pakistani students
Ambassador Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the UAE, and Hussain Muhammad, Consul General of Pakistan in Dubai, extended their encouragement to the Pakistani teams. Ambassador Tirmizi visited the venue to meet with the young delegates, recognising their efforts and engaging with participants from various countries.
In a motivating address, he highlighted the significance of education and soft diplomacy in shaping Pakistan's future. He urged the students to embrace innovation and inclusivity, becoming agents of positive change. To honour his visit, the Harvard IRC team presented a token of recognition to the ambassador.
Briefing for C.A.S. School delegation
The delegation from the C.A.S. School Karachi, led by Umer Sharfuddin, received special recognition during the event. Mr. Hussain Muhammad, Consul General of Pakistan in Dubai, hosted the team at the Consulate General for lunch. He provided an insightful briefing on the consulate’s roles and responsibilities, offering students a unique perspective on the intricacies of diplomatic missions.
Highlighting the importance of platforms like HMUN, Muhammad Hussain stressed their role in empowering Pakistani youth to excel on international stages.
He emphasised the need to strengthen global ties and elevate Pakistan’s presence in educational and diplomatic arenas.
