Bangkok: Starting Monday, tourists and business travelers from 93 countries and territories will be able to stay in Thailand for 60 days without a visa (after official publication in the Royal Gazette).
The Ministry of Interior spokesperson, Traisulee Traisoranakul, explained these updates align with the government's plan to "facilitate travel" and revitalize the tourism sector.
Key policy changes effective July 15th, 2024:

Extended visa-free stays: The most significant change is the extension of visa-free stays from 30 to 60 days for citizens of 93 countries and territories. This list, previously at 57, now offers a wider range of nationalities the opportunity to explore Thailand for a longer period without obtaining a visa.

More countries eligible for visas on arrival: The number of countries eligible for Visa on Arrival (VOA) has increased from 19 to 31. This allows visitors from these countries to obtain a visa upon arrival at designated immigration checkpoints.

Introducing the "Destination Thailand Visa" (DTV): A new visa category, the DTV, caters to individuals seeking a "workcation" experience in Thailand. This visa is ideal for freelancers, remote workers, or those interested in learning Thai martial arts, taking cooking classes, or undergoing medical treatments. The DTV allows stays of up to 180 days per entry and is valid for 5 years.

Extended stay duration for certain students: Foreign students pursuing higher education in Thailand will benefit from an extended stay of one year after graduation. This additional time allows them to seek employment, travel, or explore other opportunities in the country.
Thailand Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) coming soon
For now, the authorities have not specified the terms for a possible extension of the stay duration
By June 2025, these travelers will need an electronic travel authorization (Thailand ETA) to benefit from the visa exemption.
This new formality to be completed before departure to the Land of Smiles will gradually come into effect starting December 2024.
