DUBAI: Expatriate residents in GCC countries can now apply for a 30-day e-visa to enter the UAE, provided their residency duration is no less than one year, as announced by the UAE Digital Government.

How to Apply for the 30-Day E-Visa?

According to the UAE Digital Government's statement, expatriates residing in any GCC country who wish to visit the UAE must obtain an e-visa prior to their travel. The visa allows for a stay of 30 days from the date of entry, with the option to extend it for an additional 30 days.

Applicants can apply through the Dubai General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs' website or via the smart channels of the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Ports Security (ICP).

What are the Key Requirements for e-Visa?

The Digital Government has laid out several important conditions for obtaining the e-visa, including:

  • The e-visa will be sent to the registered email address after processing and approval.
  • No visit visa will be approved for family members, domestic workers, or companions of GCC residents unless the sponsor is traveling with them.
  • The validity of the entry permit for GCC residents is 30 days from the date of issuance, and they may stay for 30 days in the UAE, extendable once for another 30 days.

Rules for Escorts and GCC Citizen Companions

For escorts of GCC citizens, the entry permit is valid for 60 days from the date of issuance, with a permitted stay of 60 days from the date of entry, also extendable once for an additional 60 days.

What conditions may lead to entry denial?

Holders of the entry permit for GCC residents will be denied entry if their residence visa has expired or been canceled. Entry will also be refused if the holder’s profession has changed after the issuance of the entry permit.

Additionally, residency in a GCC country must be valid for at least one year upon arrival in the UAE, and the passport must be valid for no less than six months upon arrival.
