Pakistan Night kicks off GITEX Global 2024 with IT sector growth in focus

DUBAI: Pakistan made a bold statement at GITEX Global 2024 with the hosting of “Pakistan Night,” a high-profile networking event designed to connect Pakistani tech professionals with international business leaders.
Held at the Pakistan Association Dubai last night, the event drew hundreds of tech executives from various countries, providing a unique platform for collaboration and exchange of ideas.
'Pakistan Night' for int'l collaboration
The event was graced by Sheikh Mana Bin Muhammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum as the Chief Guest, alongside key Emirati dignitaries such as Ghanim Al Falasi, Senior VP of entrepreneurship and innovation at Dubai Silicon Oasis. The presence of these high-ranking officials highlighted the significance of Pakistan’s growing role in the global tech sector.
Pakistan’s Ambassador to the UAE, Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, expressed gratitude to Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum for the platform provided by GITEX Global, calling it a crucial opportunity to promote Pakistan’s IT sector on the world stage. “Events like these are essential in increasing our IT-related exports and showcasing Pakistan’s technological potential,” said Ambassador Tirmizi.
The Ambassador further highlighted the collaborative efforts of the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT), Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB), Pakistan Software Houses Association (P@SHA), and the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) in promoting the country’s IT sector. On behalf of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Minister of State for IT & Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja, he thanked GITEX Global for declaring Pakistan as the "Tech Destination 2024."

The Pakistan Pavilion, located at the Dubai World Trade Centre, features 24 exhibitors showcasing the latest technological innovations from Pakistan. From software solutions to IT services, the pavilion reflects Pakistan’s advancements in technology and its potential to become a key player in the global tech market.
Ali Zeb Khan, Pakistan’s Trade and Investment Counsellor in Dubai, welcomed IT delegates from countries such as the USA, Egypt, Iran, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Tanzania, Korea, and the UAE during Pakistan Night. He encouraged them to visit the Pakistan Pavilion and engage in productive B2B interactions with Pakistani companies. Zeb emphasized the importance of networking events like Pakistan Night in fostering international trade relations and enhancing investment opportunities.
