Coldplay’s Music of the Spheres World Tour has culminated in a spectacular four-night run at Abu Dhabi’s Zayed Sports City Stadium, marking the largest concert series ever by an international artist in the UAE.
Over 200,000 fans attended the sold-out performances, setting a new record for live music in the region.
Supported by artists Shone and Elyanna, the shows featured tracks from Coldplay’s latest album Moon Music alongside iconic hits like Fix You and The Scientist. A breathtaking production of fireworks, interactive LED wristbands, and moon-themed visuals left fans in awe, with each night offering a unique blend of musical and visual artistry.
A Film for the Future
Following this record-breaking success, Coldplay announced their upcoming short film, A Film for the Future. Premiering globally on January 22, the 44-minute film is a visual companion to Moon Music, celebrating the creative works of 150 artists from 45 countries. The film will debut on YouTube alongside immersive 360-degree screenings at Lightroom venues in London, Manchester, and Seoul.
Executive producer Ben Mor described the project as a “kaleidoscopic patchwork quilt,” praising the global collaboration that brought the film to life. Fans can also explore a fan-led remix site powered by Microsoft AI, promising unique, interactive experiences.
Music of the Spheres World Tour
The Music of the Spheres World Tour, launched in 2022, has been hailed as one of the most sustainable tours in music history. Coldplay employed solar-powered stages, a kinetic floor generating energy from audience movement, and free water refill stations to reduce plastic waste. These efforts align with the band’s commitment to environmental responsibility.
James Craven, President of Live Nation Middle East, expressed pride in delivering the region’s largest concert series: “Coldplay’s tour showcased the UAE as a premier destination for global artists. We’re grateful for the support of the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi and our partners in making this event a success.”
Coldplay in UAE
This isn’t Coldplay’s first historic performance in the UAE. The band’s 2016 New Year’s Eve concert at Etihad Park drew 40,000 fans, while their rain-soaked 2009 debut at Emirates Palace remains etched in fans’ memories.
With more than $1 billion in earnings and a reputation for sold-out venues worldwide, the Music of the Spheres tour continues to be one of the most celebrated live music events. Coldplay’s next stop will be Mumbai, India, for three shows at DY Patil Stadium starting January 18.
