Dubai: Dubai's Ruler, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, mourned the passing of esteemed Islamic scholar, Sheikh Muhammad Ali, on Monday, July 15, 2024.
Sheikh Muhammad Ali, a distinguished scholar recognized for his profound contributions to Islamic education and charity, passed away at the age of 104.

In a heartfelt post on the social media platform X Sheikh Mohammed, said, "Hundreds of students graduated under his leadership. He wrote more than 70 books on Sharia science. He completed dozens of charitable projects. His council was full of goodness, Sharia knowledge, and interaction with the people." He added, "May God have mercy on him and place him in spacious gardens and grant his family and relatives patience and solace."
A life dedicated to knowledge and charity
Born in 1920, Sheikh Muhammad Ali bin Al Sheikh Abdurrahman Sultan Al Ulama completed his education at Al Azhar University in Cairo.
His career as an educator and scholar spanned over 40 years, during which he taught Arabic and Shariah sciences at Sultan Al Ulama School for Religious Sciences. His academic contributions include the publication of more than 70 books, notably an 11-part Quran explanation.
Honors and recognition
In 2016, at the age of 96, Sheikh Muhammad Ali was named the Dubai Quran Award's Islamic Personality of the Year. This accolade recognized his extensive work in Islamic scholarship and his impact on the religious community.
