FUJAIRAH: Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, the emirate is poised to make history as it prepares to host the first Fujairah International Conference of Adventures Tourism.

Organised by the Fujairah Adventures Center in collaboration with the United Nations World Tourism Organization, the event will run from 30 April to 2 May 2025. As the UAE’s first international conference dedicated to adventure tourism, it underscores Fujairah’s emerging prominence in the global tourism map.

With its rugged mountains, pristine coastline, and protected reserves, Fujairah offers natural assets well-suited for adventure seekers. The conference intends to capitalise on these strengths to elevate Fujairah as a sustainable tourism destination. Industry talks, keynote addresses and five expert-led panel discussions will form the core of the agenda, aiming to set new benchmarks for responsible adventure tourism development in the region.

Strategic milestone

Amr Zein Eddine, Director of Fujairah Adventures Center and Head of the Higher Organising Committee, described the event as a pivotal step towards building a sustainable tourism ecosystem. "Hosting this international conference marks a strategic milestone in the development of the adventure tourism sector in the region, and we are grateful for the unwavering support and guidance from His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi," he stated.

The event will not only attract decision-makers and tourism leaders but also spotlight young innovators and influencers, as part of a dedicated session on Innovation & Youth. Other discussion tracks will address investment trends, global safety standards, and community engagement. The conference will also see the release of a region-specific standardised framework for adventure tourism, reinforcing safety and sustainability.

Cultural immersion

Beyond the conference halls, participants will engage in immersive activities across Fujairah. Highlights include a hike through Wadi Wurrayah Reserve, visits to the historic Fujairah Fort and Sheikh Zayed Mosque, cultural experiences in Al Taiba Village, and deep-sea fishing paired with local culinary tastings. The opening day will feature a book launch and Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremonies, including the unveiling of the Arabic translation of the UIAA safety manual.

By combining strategic dialogue with hands-on experiences, the Fujairah International Conference of Adventures Tourism will pave the way for impactful tourism collaboration in the Middle East and beyond.
