DUBAI: Residents of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) woke up to an unusual weather pattern today, as rain showers graced parts of Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and the Al Dhafra region.
The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) reported light to moderate rainfall in various areas, marking a departure from the typically dry conditions.
In Dubai, the Expo area experienced a brief downpour this morning, bringing a refreshing change to the city's atmosphere.
Similarly, Abu Dhabi's Khalifa City and Al Bateen Airport recorded light rain, offering residents a rare sight of wet pavements.
The Al Dhafra region, including locales such as Hamim, Tarif, Habshan, Liwa, and Madinat Zayed, also witnessed light to moderate rainfall, contributing to the overall coolness of the day.
Temperature and humidity
The NCM forecasts partly cloudy skies throughout the day, with the possibility of additional rain in certain areas. Temperatures are expected to dip slightly, with inland regions experiencing highs between 31°C and 36°C, while coastal areas and islands may see temperatures ranging from 28°C to 32°C. Mountainous regions are anticipated to be cooler, with temperatures between 25°C and 29°C. As night approaches and into Tuesday morning, humidity levels are projected to rise, increasing the likelihood of mist formation along some coastal areas.
Wind and sea conditions
Winds are predicted to be light to moderate, occasionally picking up in intensity. The Arabian Gulf is expected to have slight to moderate sea conditions, whereas the Oman Sea is forecasted to remain calm. These conditions are typical during this transitional period, as the region shifts from winter to spring, leading to variable weather patterns.
Motorists are advised to exercise caution due to the wet and potentially slippery roads. The NCM recommends driving only when necessary, using low-beam headlights in reduced visibility, and staying updated with weather forecasts through official channels. Residents are encouraged to stay prepared – whether it means carrying an umbrella, wearing a light jacket, or simply being extra cautious on the roads.
As the week progresses, a gradual increase in temperature is expected by Wednesday, with cloud cover and light to moderate winds persisting.
