UAE visit visa exemption for Indians: What you need to know

DUBAI: In a significant move to boost tourism and strengthen economic ties, Indian nationals holding valid tourist visas for the European Union, the United States, or the United Kingdom are now exempt from obtaining a pre-entry visa to visit the UAE.

The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Ports Security made the announcement today, expanding the scope of visa-on-arrival services.

Previously, this exemption applied only to Indian nationals with residency permits for the US, UK, or EU. Now, tourists holding valid visas from these regions are also eligible. The new rule provides more flexibility to Indian travellers, including an option to extend their stay after paying applicable fees, provided that both their visa and passport are valid for at least six months.

What are the visa costs and extension options?

According to the updated guidelines, Indian travellers can secure a visa-on-arrival when they arrive in the UAE, provided they hold valid tourist visas for the EU, US, or UK, and meet the six-month validity requirement for both their visa and passport.

In addition to the visa-on-arrival, travellers can apply for a 14-day entry visa at a fee of AED 100. For those wishing to extend their stay, an additional 14-day extension is available for AED 250. Travellers also have the option to apply for a 60-day visa at a cost of AED 250.

This expansion is a part of the UAE’s long-term strategic partnership with India, aimed at fostering stronger trade and economic relations, according to Maj-Gen Al Khaili, Director-General of Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security.

The visa exemption is expected to bolster UAE-India relations by making it easier for Indian entrepreneurs, investors, and tourists to visit the UAE. It reflects both countries' dedication to enhancing mutual trade and investment, with the UAE continuously positioning itself as a key destination for global travellers and professionals.

The new visa rules will undoubtedly increase travel between India and the UAE, attracting more Indian visitors who wish to explore the country for longer periods. As the UAE continues to diversify its tourism offerings, this development is expected to attract both leisure and business travellers.
