Abu Dhabi: In celebration of the newly opened exhibition 'From Kalīla wa Dimna to La Fontaine: Travelling through Fables', Louvre Abu Dhabi presents an electrifying Masquerave event featuring the phenomenal DJ Peggy Gou. She will perform at the museum with a line-up of her greatest techno beats, drills, and musical hits.
The special show, which will take place on Saturday, 27 April, is part of the Louvre Abu Dhabi's Masquerave festival.
Peggy Gou is from Incheon, South Korea. As a child, she began classical piano lessons. A friend taught her to DJ, and she started her career in East London. Her hit songs include 1+1=11, (It Goes Like) Nanana, Starry Night, and I Believe in Love Again, a collaboration with Lenny Kravitz. She also launched her own fashion label, Kirin, and record label, Ninja Tune and Phonica.
The Masquerave will be a fusion of EDM beats and a classical masquerade transporting guests into the captivating world of animal fables. Guests will be invited to wear a mask from one of the five critical animals featured in the fables of Kalila Wa Dimna. The animals are the monkey, the lion, the fox, the bull, and the owl – each of them symbolising human traits demonstrated in the fables. The night will unfold with six performances, including Roly Poly Crow, Deer, Stilt Walker, and Snake Contortionists – reflecting the timeless moral narratives portrayed through the anthropomorphic animal characters in the tales.
Located in the cultural district on Saadiyat Island, the Louvre Abu Dhabi takes a different museographic approach and displays its pieces chronologically. More than just a museum, the building itself is an attraction.
