Emirates prepares for busy weekend at DXB Terminal 3
Travellers urged to arrive early and use digital check-in options

DUBAI: Emirates anticipates a major outbound travel rush through Terminal 3 at Dubai International Airport (DXB), with over 300,000 passengers expected to depart between Thursday, 18 April, and Sunday, 21 April.
The airline is implementing measures to streamline passenger movement and minimise delays as travel demand peaks ahead of the weekend.
Travellers are strongly encouraged to plan ahead and make use of convenient check-in services.
Peak passenger flow
To manage the high volume of passengers, Emirates is advising travellers to arrive at the airport well in advance and ensure that all required travel documents are in order. Terminal 3 is expected to see significant congestion, especially at entry points and check-in areas.
Customers flying Emirates can check in online via the airline’s website or mobile app from 48 hours prior to departure, receiving a digital boarding pass for seamless airport navigation. For travellers departing to the United States, the check-in window opens 12 hours before flight time due to additional security protocols.
Flexible check-in options
In addition to online check-in, Emirates offers several alternatives to ease airport crowds. Passengers may check in at the City Check-In & Travel Store located at ICD Brookfield Place in DIFC. This facility operates from 24 hours to 4 hours before scheduled departure, though it excludes US-bound flights.
Travellers based in the northern emirates can use the Ajman Central Bus Terminal, where check-in services are available within the same time frame – 24 to 4 hours before flight departure. These services aim to reduce wait times at the main terminal and provide added convenience for families and group travellers.
Timely departures
Emirates is reinforcing its boarding policies to maintain schedule integrity. Passengers must clear immigration and security checks at least 90 minutes before departure. Economy and Premium Economy passengers must reach their boarding gates 60 minutes prior, while those in Business and First Class should be present 45 minutes ahead. Boarding gates will close strictly 20 minutes before take-off, and late arrivals will not be permitted to board.
To ensure a smooth journey, travellers are reminded to verify check-in hours, plan for possible traffic delays, and consider early baggage drop-off or night-before check-in at Terminal 3.
