Syrian Air to resume direct flights to UAE from April 20
Four weekly Damascus–Dubai flights to begin, with plans for daily service

DUBAI: Syrian Air is set to resume direct commercial flights between Syria and the United Arab Emirates this Sunday, April 20, marking a key step in reconnecting the country with regional air routes.
The airline confirmed the announcement on Thursday via its official Facebook page, signalling the start of a new phase in its post-war aviation recovery.
Initially, Syrian Air will operate four weekly flights between Damascus and Dubai on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Flights to Sharjah are scheduled on Sundays, Tuesdays and Fridays, while Damascus–Abu Dhabi routes will run twice weekly on Tuesdays and Fridays.
The carrier also indicated plans to scale up each of these routes to daily service, pending further approvals from relevant authorities. Passengers have been urged to consult the airline's offices for ticketing and travel updates.
Diplomatic shift
The flight resumption comes on the heels of Syrian President Ahmad Al Sharaa’s recent diplomatic visit to the UAE – his first since assuming office on 29 January following the end of the Baath Party’s 61-year rule. His visit catalysed several developments, including the UAE's General Civil Aviation Authority confirming the reactivation of air links between the two nations on 14 April.
Once isolated due to a prolonged civil war and international sanctions, Syria is now slowly re-emerging in the regional aviation scene. Turkish Airlines resumed its Damascus service on 23 January, followed by Qatar Airways on 7 January.
In March, the International Civil Aviation Organisation and Syria’s General Authority for Civil Aviation signed an agreement to modernise the country's aviation infrastructure.
