Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has launched the fourth-generation traditional abras, marking a significant upgrade in the city’s marine transport network.

The new abras, designed to accommodate 24 passengers, offer enhanced features that promise an improved experience for daily commuters and tourists alike.

This move aligns with RTA's broader aim of integrating marine transport into the city’s overall public transit framework.

What's new?

The redesign includes improvements in seating, flooring, and the layout, with dedicated spaces for people of determination. Additionally, the abras are equipped with real-time passenger information screens and digital destination boards. These additions are part of RTA’s strategy to boost ridership and streamline connectivity within Dubai’s transport system.

RTA CEO Ahmed Hashim Bahrozyan highlighted the focus on both safety and accessibility, with the new abras meeting the Dubai Universal Design Code and adhering to the highest maritime safety standards.
