DUBAI: The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has issued a health advisory for residents, particularly those with asthma, as unstable weather conditions continue to affect parts of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

In a statement posted on X, the authority urged asthmatics to adhere to their prescribed medication, even if they are not experiencing symptoms.

“During the weather changes and the presence of winds carrying dust, we advise asthmatics to comply with their medication even if they don’t have symptoms of asthma,” DHA stated.

Strong winds carrying dust have been reported in various parts of the country, potentially triggering respiratory issues for individuals with asthma and other breathing conditions. DHA has advised residents to take necessary precautions and always carry their inhalers in case of an emergency. Those experiencing severe asthmatic attacks should seek immediate medical assistance at the nearest healthcare facility.

Unstable weather to continue

The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has forecast fluctuating weather conditions, with scattered rainfall expected across different regions. Light rain was reported over Al Ain International Airport, Remah, Alkhazna, and Bada Dafas in the Al Dhafrah region. According to the NCM, more rain is expected in the coming days, with the unsettled weather predicted to last until Thursday, February 20.

Alongside rainfall, strong winds are expected to reach speeds of up to 40 km/hr, stirring up dust and reducing visibility in certain areas. The NCM has warned residents to exercise caution while commuting and to stay updated on weather advisories.

Temperature drop across the UAE

A noticeable drop in temperatures has been recorded, with coastal and island areas experiencing highs between 25°C and 29°C, while lows range from 18°C to 22°C. Humid conditions are also expected tonight and tomorrow morning in some internal regions.

The Met Office has advised residents to remain cautious as the weather remains unpredictable. A gradual increase in temperatures is anticipated from Thursday onwards.
