Dubai Culture Grant: Sheikha Latifa launches new Dh180m fund
First-year funding of Dh12 million to benefit 18 creative initiatives
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has taken a monumental step in cementing its status as a global cultural hub with the announcement of the Dh180 million 'Dubai Cultural Grant' programme.
Launched by Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the initiative will distribute grants over the next decade to empower artists, creatives, and entrepreneurs across diverse cultural and creative disciplines.
Dubai Cultural Grant
The ‘Dubai Cultural Grant’ programme aims to elevate Dubai’s creative economy by fostering innovation and empowering local talent. “Dubai continues to lead in supporting and empowering the cultural and arts sectors, strengthening its global standing by attracting talent and investors while nurturing entrepreneurship across creative fields,” said Sheikha Latifa.
The programme’s strategic goals include providing funding to a wide array of disciplines such as visual arts, literature, design, culinary arts, digital media, gaming, and heritage preservation.

Dh12 million for 2024
The first phase of the initiative includes 18 grants worth Dh12 million. These will fund projects in public art, sustainable design, digital innovation, and professional development, bolstering Dubai’s reputation as a cultural incubator.
Empowering local talent
The programme was developed by leaders from the Mohammed bin Rashid Centre for Leadership Development’s Impactful Leaders Programme. This visionary approach underscores Dubai’s commitment to building a sustainable creative ecosystem, enabling creatives to thrive both locally and internationally.
Key Projects
One flagship initiative, the Emirati Creatives in Venice Programme, offers 10 Emirati artists the chance to participate in cultural exchanges at the Venice Biennale, engaging with global experts through workshops and exhibitions.
The Etihad Museum Research Grant awards Dh50,000 annually to researchers exploring the UAE’s cultural heritage, further enriching the understanding of Emirati identity.
Emirati Chefs Grant
The Emirati Chefs Grant, in partnership with the International Centre for Culinary Arts Dubai, supports aspiring chefs by offering market-relevant training in traditional and innovative cuisines.
Technology meets creativity
Through the Art + Tech Training Programme, creatives gain the skills to integrate technology into their practice, designing innovative tech-art installations showcased in public exhibitions.
Expanding global reach
Initiatives like the Maison & Objet UAE Designers Showcase and the International Art Fairs Grant enable Emirati designers and galleries to exhibit their work on global platforms, including Paris and leading art fairs.
Exporting Local Literary Talent
The Exporting Local Literary Talent programme connects Emirati authors and poets with international literary festivals, increasing the global visibility of Emirati literature.
Interactive programmes
The Quoz Arts Fest and Dubai Design Week initiatives provide platforms for local creatives to showcase their work, engage with audiences, and enhance public appreciation for art and design.
Theatre Accelerator Programme
The Theatre Accelerator Programme, in collaboration with Sandooq Al Watan and Dubai National Theatre, provides hands-on training in scenography, sound design, and theatrical arts, nurturing talent for future stage productions.
