DUBAI: Turkiye is taking significant steps to streamline the visa application process for UAE visitors as part of a broader initiative to attract more tourists, according to a senior Turkish diplomat in Dubai.
“We are here to collaborate with the tourism agencies and operators from both countries, to identify challenges and craft solutions that will enhance tourism between our nations. By working together, we aim to boost both inbound and outbound tourism,” said Onur Şaylan, Consul General of the Republic of Turkiye in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, in an exclusive interview with TravelsDubai.
He emphasised that Turkiye's commitment to facilitating smoother travel is evident, especially in the ongoing efforts to expedite the visa process for UAE residents. “We will expedite and streamline the visa application process in Dubai and across our other Gulf diplomatic representations,” Şaylan added.
The announcement came during a recent event at a local hotel in Dubai, where Turkish tourism and aviation stakeholders met with UAE-based travel professionals. The gathering aimed to deepen collaboration between the two nations' tourism sectors, focusing on both challenges and solutions in the rapidly growing travel industry.
Turkish Airlines was a major participant in the event, with Arif Pasha, Regional Sales and Marketing Manager for Turkish Airlines in the UAE, discussing how the airline is enhancing travel experiences.
“For travelers heading to Europe, the Americas, or elsewhere, Turkish Airlines should be your first choice. We also offer special layover incentives—business-class passengers can enjoy two nights in a 5-star hotel in Istanbul, and economy-class travelers get a complimentary one-night stay.”
Turkiye’s government, alongside Turkish Airlines, is rolling out campaigns to promote the country’s rich cultural heritage and modern tourist amenities. Special travel packages and experiences tailored to UAE visitors were key points of discussion, reflecting a strong mutual interest in boosting tourism numbers.
Looking ahead, the discussions also touched on the possibility of visa-free or visa-on-arrival arrangements for UAE residents, which could be a game changer for tourism between the two nations.
“We’ve launched extensive campaigns showcasing the country's attractions—from historical landmarks to natural wonders,” Şaylan said, reinforcing Turkiye’s status as a top global destination that continues to appeal to tourists from the Gulf and beyond.
