Dubai to lead global education with expansion of Symbiosis University
India’s top university joins forces with Dubai’s D33 Agenda, elevating the UAE’s role as a global education hub
Dubai: Symbiosis International University has launched another campus in Dubai. The expansion is a testament to the university’s global ambition that aligns with Dubai’s transformative D33 economic agenda, which aims to focus heavily on human capital development and the growth of the education sector.
Symbiosis is set to meet this demand with its high-quality academic programs, offering a diverse and multicultural educational experience tailored for both expats and locals alike.
Strengthening India-UAE relations through education
Symbiosis’s Dubai campus serves as a powerful symbol of the growing ties between India and the UAE, particularly in education.
During the 78th Indian Independence Day celebrations at the Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi, Indian Ambassador to the UAE, Sunjay Sudhir, highlighted the flourishing relationship between the UAE and India, particularly in the field of education. Addressing the gathering, Sudhir attributed the rapid and positive evolution of bilateral ties to the visionary leadership on both sides.
He noted the frequent interactions between President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, describing their relationship as 'unprecedented' and a model of how shared values and mutual respect can strengthen international bonds.
Sudhir also celebrated recent educational milestones, including the recent opening of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) office in Dubai, which supports 105 CBSE-affiliated schools and 325,000 students across the UAE. He mentioned that the master’s program at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IITD) – Abu Dhabi began earlier this year, with the bachelor’s program scheduled to start in September 2024.
Furthermore, he revealed ongoing discussions with the Dubai government to establish a campus of the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A).
A global approach to education
Symbiosis’s Dubai campus is more than just a local achievement; it shows the university’s commitment to global education. This expansion aligns with India’s National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which encourages Indian institutions to grow internationally and supports the UAE’s goal to become a leading global education hub.
The campus will offer a top-notch education that blends global perspectives, preparing students for leadership in a connected world.
